President Donald Trump visited National Shrine of St. John Paul II

U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania left the White House on Tuesday and visited the National Shrine of St. John Paul II in Washington.  The presidential couple laid a wreath in front of his memorial.  In this way, the presidential couple celebrated the 100th anniversary of Karol Wojtyła’s birth that was celebrated on May 18.  The president and first lady stopped in front of the monument, mired in silent prayer.

The John Paul II Shrine is the most important place in the United States dedicated to the great Pope of our time and his heritage.  On March 14, 2014, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops named the shrine “national.”

“The Saint John Paul II National Shrine is a place of worship, religious formation, and cultural renewal to feed the minds and souls of its visitors. It is a place of pilgrimage with a first-class relic of St. John Paul II’s blood available for veneration.” – the sanctuary’s website reads.
