– Tracheotomy?
– The Holy Father hesitates. He says to postpone the operation by a few months, until the summer. But the doctors are telling him and us that this is not a good idea; that it’s impossible. That is why we also convincing the Holy Father to agree; that this is the only solution. We are saying that everything will be fine.
– And the Holy Father agrees…
– He had confidence in his doctors and in us. He agreed. He just wanted to know one thing: whether he will be able to speak after the operation, will he get his voice.
Doctors are saying that it will be fine. The Pope prays; as always and as everything. Also this operation he most likely entrusts to the Mother of God. She has protected him so many times. If that will be God’s will, She will protect him also this time. The Secretary asks that this be the case. The operation starts at 8:20 p.m. It lasts half an hour. The Secretary prays that there are no complications that the operation will succeed. It is a success. After half an hour it already ended. Doctors cut the trachea and put a tube into it, thanks to which the air will reach the lungs. The Pope will be able to breathe freely.
