There was one unique place in Giuseppe’s workshop. Working in it made one day the Papal “family” much closer to him. The daily life of the Holy Father and his closest collaborators takes place on a different level than the life and work of those who are employed in the Vatican in various offices of the Roman Curia, travel kilometers of corridors of congregations or deal with the functioning of a tiny state, working even in a grocery store, at the post office, in Papal garages or at a gas station. The Pope, and with him his two secretaries, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart who took care of the entire household and the butler, moved every day around the interiors of the apartment on the third, top floor of the majestic Apostolic Palace. There they performed their daily numerous duties, away from outside eyes, not only those outside the Vatican, but even from ours – residents or employees of the Holy See. However, there were situations when the life of the “family” of the Holy Father and his employees was intertwined, because everyday matters required it. This was the case with Giuseppe.
