The Saints were by the John Paul II’s side every day

In the private chapel in the Apostolic Palace, on a table on the side of the altar there were reliqualiners. Among others there were remains of St. Faustina, Saint Stanislaus, Brother Albert, relics of St. Peter. There were also relics of father Pio. Or maybe this one was in his office? After so many years, I don’t remember anymore. But, I see it as if it was today – the Pope approaches the relics and kisses them. He did it always twice a day; in the morning and then in the evening. He never failed to do so.
The relics were in different rooms where the Pope was staying. Few people noticed this, but in the library on the second floor, on the desk where John Paul II spoke with the leaders of the states, there were relics, which the Holy Father looked at almost every day – St. Andrzej Zoerard (in Poland called St. Swierad) and St. Benedict hermit.
A valuable relic was also located on the terrace of the Apostolic Palace. Not far from the Stations of the Cross. There stood a sculpture with relics of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe. These were beard hair cut even before Father Maximilian was arrested during the Second World War and preserved by one of the Fathers. The Saints were by the John Paul II’s every day.
