The Fourth Sunday of Advent

The Fourth Sunday of Advent of expectation is a direct preparation for the experience of the encounter with Jesus, the Son of God, who for our salvation welcomes our nature and enters into our history. God loves us very much. Jesus is so close to us. His presence in the word of God permeates our hearts and transforms our lives. Just give him our time and place in our heart.

At the Polish Shrine on the Kahlenberg in Vienna, this Sunday was dedicated to St. John Paul II.
Holy Masses were celebrated by Rev. Józef Gwozdz, a Divine Word Missionary from Panama, who since the year 2000 has been traveling and evangelizing the mission areas of Central America. The missionary reminded us of the words of St. John Paul II from Lednica!

After the Holy Mass, the faithful venerated the relic of St. John Paul ll.

Dear Young Friends!

At the beginning of the new millennium, while we are still rejoicing in the fruits of the Great Jubilee, the words that the Lord Jesus once addressed to Peter reach us with particular force: Duc in altum! – Go out into the deep. This call uttered on the shores of the Sea of Galilee had a practical meaning – it was a proposal (Christ’s proposal) that Peter should bounce off the shore and, despite his discouragement, once again cast his nets (the literal meaning of the gospel). At the same time, however, it had a deep spiritual meaning (the spiritual meaning of the Gospel): it was an invitation to faith. This is how Peter understood it and entrusted: “Lord, . . . at your word I will cast the nets” (Lk 5:5) (the word of Jesus as the foundation of human life). This entrustment became the foundation of the apostolic mission, which Christ gave him when he said: “Do not be afraid, henceforth you will fish for men” (Lk 5:10).

Duc in altum! Today, these words of Jesus. I address to each and every one of you: Put out into the deep! Entrust yourself to Christ, overcome weakness and discouragement, and put out into the deep again! Discover the depths of your own spirit. Penetrate into the depths of the world. Accept the word of Christ, trust in Him and undertake your life mission (the word of Jesus as a gift, trustworthy, a light in life’s mission, apostolate or vocation). The people of the new age await your testimony. Do not be afraid! Sail out into the depth – Christ is with you.
