On Saturdays he was more cheerful

The Holy Father at first was meeting with the faithful in the chapel of the oratory of Paul VI.  It was a small chapel.  Then, the meetings were moved to the courtyard of St. Damasus, a cloister inside the Vatican that could fit more people.  It was there, where as a student, that I participated in the Rosary with the Holy Father.  Later, when I was already a secretary, these meetings were transferred to the Paul VI Hall, because more and more people wanted to participate in them.  The prayers were very beautiful –very well prepared, interspersed with singing.  Everything was transmitted into the world through the radio.  It can be said, the whole world prayed with him the Rosary.  The Holy Father enjoyed it a lot.  He was happy that the crowds in the Hall and many at the radios prayed to Mary.  They prayed moving the beads of the Rosary, the prayer so close to his heart.  There were also days of the Rosary prayer for young people; there were connections with different cities, states, continents…

-Rosary and what else?

-The Holy Father always took care of the feast of the Mother of the Church on the Mondays after the Pentecost. Then, on December 8th, when we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary.  In the afternoon, he went to the Spanish Square to lay flowers in front of the statue of Our Lady.  But in fact, every Saturday was a Marian holiday for the Holy Father.  Who knew him, knew it as he/she was able to see very well that on Saturdays he was more cheerful than usually; that he just enjoyed these Saturdays.  He celebrated every Marian holiday.  All of them were important to him.
