In the difficult time of the epidemic, on May 3, Jasna Góra will entrust our homeland to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mother of God the Queen of Poland, which will be done by Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, the President of the Episcopal Conference – said the spokesman of the EPP Paweł Rytel-Andrianik.
Poland was entrusted to the Mother of God in the national shrine at Jasna Góra in difficult moments and crises affecting our homeland. Bishops gave Poland to Mary, among others in the face of the threat of the Bolshevik invasion in 1920, after World War II in 1946 in the face of the threat of communism, on the 300th anniversary of the Lwów Oath in 1956 and 10 years later in 1966.
In 1979, during his first apostolic visit to his homeland, John Paul II entrusted the Church in Poland to Our Lady of Jasna Góra. On May 3, 2016, on the occasion of the 1050th anniversary of the baptism of Poland, the President of the Polish Episcopate made a new act of entrusting the Polish Nation to the Mother of God.
“This Sunday, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki will preside over the ceremonies in Jasna Góra, during which he will entrust our homeland to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to Mother of God the Queen of Poland. The act of entrustment will be broadcast by TVP3 and TV Trwam, “said a spokesman of the Episcopate.
In the Act of Trust, we read, among others: “Together with Mary, Virgin Mary, Queen of Poland and Saint Patrons, we beg for help for our homeland in today’s difficult experience. (…) Today, we entrust to you our Homeland and Nation, all Poles living in their homeland and abroad. We entrust to you our whole life, all our joys and suffering, everything we are and what we possess, all our past, present and future. “
During the ongoing epidemic of the coronavirus, other countries also devoted themselves to the protection of the Mother of God, including England and Wales, Portugal and Spain, Austria, and also on May 1 this year the bishops of Italy entrust their country to Mary.
The Act of Entrustment to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mother of God the Queen of Poland, which will be read at Jasna Góra by the President of the Polish Episcopate Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, also will be read in churches and chapels on Sunday, May 3.
