– And then just, “Let me go to the Father’s house”…
– The Holy Father said this to nun Tobiana. It was his farewell. Last words. Then just: “Amen.”
– What was the expression of his face?
– He was serene. His face was not old and wrinkled (…) The Holy Father had to the end a beautiful, smooth face, without wrinkles.
– Was he beautiful when he died?
– Yes. His face beamed. We sometimes saw the Holy Father in these difficult moments of illness. Then, there were wrinkles and grimaces on the face. And later on, at the end, his face has changed. It was no longer neither wrinkled nor pale.
– That is how the Saints die…
– It’s true. The Lord God stores their body in indestructibility, with a clear face. That is how John Paul II left.
– Did you think then that the holy man was leaving?
– Then, I did not think about his holiness. I thought that despite the pain, we need to accept the will of God and let the Holy Father go to the Father’s house.
