I was able to invite my colleagues for a dinner

– The priest often told me that for a birthday or name day many people made wished to the Holy Father. Did John Paul II also remember about such days of his closest associates; for example, the priest’s name or birthday?
– On my name day, I was able to invite my colleagues to the papal dining room for dinner. Usually they were priests working in congregations and councils in the Vatican. And together, in the company of John Paul II, we ate a solemn dinner. At the end of the dinner, the Holy Father has always said some nice words. Once, when everyone was saying goodbye, he said: “This Miecio is very nice” another time: “Mieciu, you have very good friends.” There were many other gestures of kindness. For example, I was receiving books from the Holy Father or his portrait with beautiful dedications.
