It was the day of the funeral. A gust of wind calmly closed the pages of the Gospel placed on the coffin. It was almost a “sign” that Karol Wojtyła ended his earthly adventure and now came face to face with God. And yet he seemed so vivid, so present! When Cardinal Ratzinger said at the end of the homily that he was standing there and seeing the gathered and blessing them, many turned in the belief that he was looking at them from the window. And, here is a moment of farewell. The carrying coffin turned towards the square to allow him to look for the last time towards his people, and then they entered the Basilica and descended to the grotto where the tomb was located. And then, at this point, Don Stanislao thought he has been accompanying him for almost forty years, first in Krakow and then at the Vatican. And now? “At the time of his death, he went alone.” This fact that he can no longer accompany him touched Father Stanisław. “And now? On the other side, who accompanies him?”
