He referred to very specific issues

There were years when, during the Easter message, he referred to very specific issues, such as abortion. “Easter brings with it the message of life liberated from death, life saved from death” – he said. -“Let the thoughts and programs of saving human life from death prevail – not programs that see man’s progress in the right to inflict death on a life that has barely been conceived.” He cried out for help for people tormented by war, as in the early nineties in Bosnia and Herzegovina: “And how can we remain silent today – on this day of peace – in the face of the bloody fratricidal struggles in the Caucasus region, in the face of the terrible drama that is constantly unfolding in Bosnia and Herzegovina? Who will be able to say, “I didn’t know”? No one can claim that he/she is not concerned with this tragic situation, which humiliates Europe and seriously threatens the future of peace. The rulers of states and people of good will, I once again address each of you with a heart filled with pain: stop the war! I implore you to put an end to the indescribable atrocities that trample on human dignity and offend God, the just and merciful Father!” He was experiencing every war a lot – recalls Archbishop Mokrzycki. He watched the coverage on TV. And, then he went to pray. Many times he intervened with the leaders of countries involved in conflicts, saw them during audiences. He did his best to speak to the consciences of the people responsible for the wars. In the last years of his life, he recalled that with His death Christ “broke down the wall dividing people” and reconciled us all through the cross. “And now he calls us, his disciples, to remove everything that breeds hatred and a desire for revenge” – he explained. “May the chain of hatred that threatens the harmonious development of the human family be broken” – he said a year later. – May God save us from the danger of a dramatic conflict between cultures and religions.”
