He constantly reminded us that these are not jokes

I said that he rejoiced like a child on the day of the Resurrection of the Lord, and this joy does not fit into these serious, dramatic words – says the Archbishop – but it was in him. And, I think that it was coming from his amazement. The Holy Father himself said many times that the mystery of the Resurrection amazes him. And, that this amazement is accompanied by disbelief. Just as it had accompanied the Apostles and women who had come to the tomb at sunrise two thousand years ago. He said that this is ours, the experience of the entire Church today. Nourished by the Easter message, which is a testimony. “Testify those who found the tomb empty” – he explained. Those who have experienced the presence of the Risen One.” He constantly reminded us that these are not jokes – emphasizes the former Papal secretary. That it all really happened. That we owe a debt to God who has given us a chance to live forever. Life – the key word to the mystery of the cross. “God’s last word on human fate is not death, but life” – he said – “not despair, but hope. To this hope the Church also calls contemporaries. It repeats to them the unbelievable and yet true news: Christ is risen! May the entire world be resurrected with Him! Hallelujah!”

This Sunday was always extraordinary. – The archbishop is thinking. – After Urbi et orbi we were coming home. It was joyful, peaceful. The Holy Father invited several guests to dinner, usually Cardinals, Bishops and Polish priests working in the Vatican. After dinner, we rested. To the Holy Father, especially to him, this rest after the entire Paschal Triduum was due. And, on Easter Monday we were already going to Castel Gandolfo – says the Archbishop. For a week to rest a little. There was no sprinkling with water – he laughs.
