In an increasingly secular society of Canada, Friends of the Foundation is a center of the spirituality of John Paul II.
POPE FROM PROPHECY
The year of 1978 was recorded in the history of Poland and the world as the year in which an extraordinary event took place. Karol Wojtyła was elected as Pope. The first pope outside Italy in 446 years, but also the first Polish pope, cardinal from behind the Iron Curtain. Many Poles at this turning point remembered the words of the Polish poet about the future Pope from the Slavic nation, God’s anointed, who would turn the fate of the world and the Church. Pope John Paul II was able to bring people for God not only during his extraordinary pontificate, but also after his death thanks to the heritage he left behind. During each meeting John Paul gathered countless believers and non-believers. He always directed their attention to God and the Gospel. Although he was a fascinating and charismatic person, he did not overshadow the One who sent him. He always left in the hearts of people a touch of God’s love, but also anxiety, hunger and desire for God. Already at the beginning of the pontificate, numerous institutes and centers of culture were devoted to the teaching of the Polish Pope in various countries around the world.
JOHN PAUL II FOUNDATION was established by papal decree on October 16, 1981 as a non-profit church organization, which set itself the goal of implementing educational, scientific, cultural, religious and charity initiatives related to the pontificate of John Paul II.
