Blessed Virgin Mary from Lourdes

Blessed Virgin Mary from Lourdes

The Catholic Church commemorates Blessed Virgin Mary from Lourdes on February 11th. On that day in 1858, four years after Pius IX solemnly proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, Virgin Mary appeared to poor shepherdess Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes. During the eighteen apparitions Virgin Mary was encouraging to conversion and prayers. Virgin Mary also ordered to build a church on this place. The order was fulfilled and in 1875 took place solemn consecration of the new Cathedral in Lourdes.
