Archbishop Gadecki thanked Pope Francis for the memory of St. John Paul II

On behalf of the faithful and pastors of the Church in Poland, I express our gratitude for all the gestures of closeness and benevolence addressed to the Poles on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of St. John Paul II – wrote Archbishop Stanislaw Gadecki, president of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, in the letter addressed to Pope Francis.

The president of the Polish Bishops’ Conference thanked Pope Francis for the memory of the Pope, “who during the 27 years of his pontificate brought the papacy closer to the world and bound Poland even more to the Holy See”, and for “the Eucharist celebrated today at the tomb of John Paul II and for his kind memory as well as for his word on the Polish Pope”.

Archbishop Gadecki also expressed his gratitude for the announcement of a new date of the Holy Mass, which will be presided over by Pope Francis, as part of the international pilgrimage to Rome, “which will gather people from all over the world in thanksgiving for the life and pontificate of St. John Paul II”.
