All Souls Day

The Holy Father John Paul II wrote in the “Rome Triptych”: “And, so the generations are passing by.  Naked are coming to this world and naked go back to earth, from which they were taken”.  The Pope was adding: “Stop, this passing makes sense, makes sense…makes sense…makes sense!”  This sense is most visible during first days of November when we celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Day.  Therefore, I like them so much, despite that it is usually cold and raining and around you can see serious and meditating faces of people walking in the cemeteries and realizing the fragility of existence, suffering from separation with their love ones.  And, although these feelings are very human, from the faith’s point view they are so illogical.  For God, after all, did not create a man, to take away his/her life, but to give it to him/her.  As the best present.  Forever.

These days strengthen my faith.  As, when we visit the tombs of our love ones, which we have more and more, I realize that they are all the time with me, perhaps even more than when they were here on the earth.  I trust that one day I will meet them.  And, that really, there is one world, only we, limited by the earthy horizon, do not see what is seen from the prospective of heaven.
