During the qualification course for future Foundation scholarship holders in Lublin, a series of cultural events took place.
On Saturday, July 20, 2024, course participants visited the State Museum at Majdanek, a former German concentration camp from World War II. The tour was led by Anton Blazheiev, a Foundation alumnus from Ukraine and former employee of the Majdanek Museum. This visit offered a poignant day of remembrance, prayer and reflection on the tragic events of the 20th century.
The day concluded with the Eucharist and a period of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Participants prayed for global peace, with a special focus on Ukraine and Belarus, as well as for the victims of wars, attacks, and persecution. It was a day full of experiences, work, and prayer, which fortified everyone for the week ahead.
On Sunday, July 21, 2024, the course participants at the John Paul II Foundation House hosted a lively evening event titled “Got Talent.” Candidates showcased their abilities in various categories, including singing, instrumental performance, poetry recitation, theatrical scenes, and flash mob dancing.
An international jury assessed solo performances, duets, trios, and group acts, awarding distinctions in each category. The event brought much joy to all involved, and we extend our gratitude to everyone for their preparation and participation in this talent-filled evening.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, during a break from the course, participants explored Lublin’s old town, visiting its historic sites, churches, and landmarks. Prof. Andrzej Niewiński, a history lecturer at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), guided the group.
The participants dedicated a significant amount of time to exploring the Old Town, hallmark and pride of Lublin. As they toured these sites, the youth from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine were very intrigued by the history of Lublin, where they are currently preparing for their studies at KUL and their participation in the scholarship program.
The perfect weather made the excursion a resounding success!
