The Polish Church of St. Stanislaus in Via delle Botteghe Oscure 15, Rome and the John Paul II Vatican Foundation are preparing several events on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the election of Cardinal Karol Wojtyla to the See of Peter together with the liturgical commemoration of St. John Paul II
-> On Thursday, 12 October, in the hall adjacent to the Polish Church, the films “Apartment” and “One metre from holiness” by Przemysław Hauser will be showed. Discussion will follow.
-> From 13 to 15 October, again at the Polish Church, there will be sacred music workshops on the theme “Faith and Reason”, conducted by Polish conductor Paweł Bębenek.
->On Monday 16 October, at 7.15 a.m., on the day of his election, a solemn Holy Mass will be celebrated at the tomb of St. John Paul II in the Vatican Basilica, presided over by the Archbishop, Metropolitan of Krakow, Marek Jędraszewski, President of the John Paul II Foundation.
->Tuesday 17 October, at 7p.m., a cultural event of music and poetry dedicated to the Polish Pope will be held in the Polish Church.
->On Saturday 21 October, at 7.15 p.m., in the hall adjoining the Polish Church, on the eve of the liturgical memorial of St. John Paul II, H.E. Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski of Krakow will present a lecture on the theological thought of John Paul II. The talk will be preceded by the presentation of the Theological Works of Karol Wojtyła, published by the John Paul II Institute for Intercultural Dialogue in Krakow and the Pontifical John Paul II University of Krakow.
->On Sunday 22nd October at 12 noon in the Polish Church, Holy Mass will be celebrated with the intention for the Polish community in Rome. After the liturgy, the pupils of the St John Paul II Polish Catholic Primary School at the Polish Church will present an artistic programme dedicated to the Saint Patron. This will be followed by refreshments.
-> Also on 22 October, at 19.30, the Polish community will gather in St Peter’s Square for a prayer vigil led by the Polish priests of Rome and animated by the “Gaudium Poloniae” choir.
At the same time, on 16 October at 3 p.m. in the Vatican Basilica at the Altar of Peter’s Chair (Cattedra Petri), on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to the Apostolic See, a solemn Holy Mass will be held, presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Poznań Stanisław Gądecki, President of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. During the liturgy, Tadeusz Sygietyński’s national song and dance ensemble Mazowsze will sing.
-> Also on 16 October, at 7 p.m. in the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore there will be a concert by Mazowsze.
