Ash Wednesday is the day that marks the beginning of Lent – a forty-day preparation for the most important Christian feast, i.e. Easter. On that day, at 7 p.m., in the John Paul II Foundation Home in Lublin, scholarship recipients, alumni and guests participated in the Holy Mass. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr Jan Strzałka, the Director of the Foundation’s Home. In his homily, Fr Jan showed the essence of the rite of sprinkling ashes on the heads, which is a reminder of the necessity of penance and spiritual preparation for the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He also pointed to evangelical signposts: prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which helps us to go through the Lent well.
