On Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the Column Hall of the Voivodship Office in Lublin, the traditional Vilnius and Borderland Christmas and New Year Meeting took place. The meeting was organized by Ms. Krystyna Romer – Patyra, President of Friends of Vilnius and the Vilnius Land Society. The meeting was attended by: Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Lublin Józef Wróbel, representatives of provincial and local authorities of Lublin, members and supporters of Friends of Vilnius and the Vilnius Land Society, as well as students of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University and scholarship recipients of the John Paul II Foundation from Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine together with the management of the Foundation’s Home.
The meeting was enriched by a concert performed by a student choir from the Centre for Polish Language and Culture. During the meeting, the Bishop blessed the Christmas wafers, which then were broken and shared among participants while making Christmas and New Year’s wishes. Among many wishes, the most often were those concerning a quick cessation of the war in Ukraine. At the end of the meeting, everybody was able to enjoy a Christmas snack and there was Christmas carols singing.
