On Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the John Paul II Foundation Home in Lublin, a traditional Christmas wafer meeting took place. At 5 p.m. the Holy Mass began, celebrated by the Metropolitan of Lviv, Archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki. In his sermon, he referred to the difficult time of the war in Ukraine. “The life of a Christian is not easy, but God is always with us. He comes, sustains us and acts in our lives. So, we have to trust in the newborn Son of God” – said the Celebrant.
Metropolitan of Lublin Archbishop Stanisław Budzik, Provincial of the Sacred Heart Fathers Fr. Sławomir Knopik, Director of the John Paul II Institute of the Catholic University of Lublin Fr. Marek Słomka, Director of the TP KUL Office Fr. Filip Krauze and President of the John Paul Foundation Chapter in Warsaw Mrs. Ewa Bednarkiewicz participated in the Holy Mass.
After the Holy Mass, all the gathered listened to the story of the birth of Jesus Christ from the Gospel of St. Luke. Then, there were occasional wishes m.in from scholarship recipients, who also thanked for a gift from the Warsaw Chapter – the book “John Paul II. Autobiography”.
This evening was exceptionally solemn and unforgettable. Sharing the wafer and making Christmas wishes, we felt like one big family, and the carols that resounded on this quiet winter evening encouraged us and strengthened our hope for a better tomorrow.
We would like to thank the management of the Foundation Home, benefactors, employees, schola and everyone who prepared and participated in this year’s Christmas meeting!
