INAUGURATION OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR AT THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF LUBLIN

 On Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, the ceremonial inauguration of the academic year 2022/2023 took place.  The John Paul II Foundation Home was represented by Fr. Jan Strzałka and Fr. Robert Ptak together with the youngest scholarship recipients from the first year.

The ceremony began at 9.00 a.m. with a Holy Mass in the academic church of the Catholic University of Lublin.  The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, a Franciscan celebrated the holy Mass and delivered the homily.  At 11.00 a.m. in the Blessed Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński Hall the we sang the National Anthem and then the Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin, Rev. Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski, welcomed the guests who came to the ceremony.  The inaugural lecture “Christian life on the Holy Land” was given by Archbishop Pizzaballa.

During the inauguration, traditionally the awards were presented to outstanding academics of the Catholic University of Lublin.  The solemn oath was taken by representatives of the first year students. The ceremony was enriched by the Academic Choir of the Catholic University of Lublin, in which our scholarship recipients sing.

The new academic year reminded about the importance of the Catholic University of Lublin for the development of Polish science in its over 100-year history, as well as for the promotion of Christian values among students.  At the end of the ceremony, the Metropolitan of Lublin, the Grand Chancellor of the Catholic University of Lublin, Archbishop Stanisław Budzik, wished all students a lot of strength and perseverance in gaining knowledge and joy in creating a university community.
