For anyone who lives or works behind the wall of the Vatican, the Pope is for obvious reasons an absolutely central figure. The everyday life of the head of the Church takes place – one can say – “high”, in the interiors of the Apostolic Palace towering over the surrounding area, where the Holy Father receives most of the official guests and where until recently, until the beginning of Francis’ pontificate, the Popes also resided. At this time, “downstairs” – whether in the Governorate, at the post office, in the pharmacy or in the Vatican printing house – people are busy with various activities, but in the end they all serve one thing: to help the Holy Father in the implementation of his mission. The function of the head of the Papal magazine is no exception. With small gestures and actions every day, depending on the planned events, il florierre adds its own brick to the smooth functioning of the great apparatus behind the Bronze Gate. At the same time, he does it very discreetly. Who would have noticed his hand behind a row of chairs perfectly placed in front of the basilica?
