To this day, the coat of arms of John Paul II appears above the main entrance to emphasize that it was during his time that the new building was put into use. It is already a well-established custom that all buildings, passages, courtyards and gates created or (which happens more often) restored in the times of a given Pope bear his trace – the coat of arms and the year of the pontificate in which the work was carried out.
To the employees and residents of the Vatican the gate to the printing house and the plaque hanging above them to this day recall the memory of the Pope from Poland. And, my heart always beats stronger when I look at his Marian coat of arms. And although some, like Demetrio, have experienced more different pontificates, this one will remain special to them. On that memorable day in 1991, he also stood at the entrance and greeted the smiling Pope at the entrance of the printing house.
