AN ACT OF CONSECRATION OF RUSSIA AND UKRAINE TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

In connection with the ongoing armed aggression of Russia in Ukraine, on Friday, March 25, 2022, on the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pope Francis, in communion with the entire Church, performed the Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  The Holy Father performed this act during the penitential celebration at 5 p.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica.  At the same time, the faithful throughout the world were united in prayer, under the leadership of the Bishop of Rome.

Such a prayer also took place in the chapel of the John Paul II Foundation Home in Lublin.  It began with a solemn Holy Mass for peace in the world, and especially in Ukraine, celebrated by Fr Jan Strzałka, Director of the Home.  In his homily, Fr Jan presented the essence of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord and the content of the Fatima apparitions, which were the source of the previous and current Act of Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  The Holy Mass was concelebrated by: Fr. Robert Ptak – Deputy Director of the Home and scholarship priests from Indonesia and Ukraine.

After the Eucharist there was an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the prayer of the Rosary.  Adoration ended at 9 p.m. with the Marian Appeal, after which everyone sang a moving song-prayer for peace in Ukraine.
