The service at the Petrine ministry required constant spiritual discernment, especially in difficult matters. Medjugorje is an example. John Paul II appointed a commission and handed over the entire matter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, remaining in constant contact with the Episcopate of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Touching on the essence of the matter, I must say that the Holy Father was impressed by the spirit of prayer, penance and conversion of people after the pilgrimage to the Mother of God. However, he always kept a prudent distance. And, that is why he did not have “seers” in audiences.
