On August 20, 2021, after a two-year break, the XXIX Ecumenical Pilgrimage from Białystok to Vilnius set off due to the pandemic. About 200 people wishing to experience the spiritual retreat on the way began their pilgrimage with the Holy Mass in the Cathedral of Bialystok under the leadership of Bishop Henryk Ciereszko. During the Holy Mass, in addition to the words to guide pilgrims, the need for special love of neighbor in relation to migrants was strongly emphasized.
On the first day, the road led through small towns in Podlasie, such as Karakule or Supraśl. During the trip there was an opportunity to pray, listen to the conference of the Eucharist as “bread not ready” and food for the journey, and get to know people with hearts devoted to the Mother of God.
The second day of the pilgrimage began in Szudziałów. Its main theme was a fragment of the Old Testament telling the story of Ruth. It began with a Holy Mass. Along the way, as on the previous day, the pilgrims prayed for Hours, the Rosary and had the opportunity to listen to the conference. The pilgrimage to Vilnius will end on August 24 at the Gate of Dawn. May the following days of the journey bring a lot of fruit to each pilgrim.
