He always maintained a prudent distance

The exercise of Peter’s ministry required constant spiritual discernment, especially in difficult matters.  Medjugorje is an example.  John Paul II set up a committee and gave the entire matter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, remaining in constant contact with the Episcopate of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Touching on the essence of the matter, I must say that the Holy Father was impressed by the spirit of prayer, repentance and conversion of people after the pilgrimage to Our Lady.  However, he always kept a reasonable distance and therefore did not have “seers” in the audience.
