Let us now address the issue of women. They too have become partners in dialogue with the Pope. They became protagonists in the less clerical Church, which in its image also bore a female “particle” of God, although it was still delicate and barely visible, gradually it strengthened and was able to better embody His mercy, sensitivity. His motherhood.
From an early age, Karol Wojtyła had great respect for the woman, especially for the woman as the mother of the family. This feeling also characterizes his compatriots, the traditions of his country. The Holy Father saw that in the world a woman is given less and less respect, treated primarily as an object of desire, and therefore wanted to restore her dignity and emphasize the important role she plays in society and in the life of the Church.
He expressed his respect and support for the woman in a true “hymn” in Honor of the Woman, which is the Apostolic Letter Mulieris dignitatem.
He did so not only in the aforementioned document, but in many others. However, I would like to remind you that, above all, the respect for women was expressed by his behavior, by his tender gestures towards women during many journeys and meetings.
In his letter Mulieris dignitatem, the Pope recalled one of the old truths of Christianity, which was forgotten because it was applied to a very limited extent in the life of the Church. It was a true revolution, as at that time, that Christ had made, emphasizing the dignity of a woman.
