“Papal Sunday” in the Hamburg Mission

This year marks the 101st anniversary of the birth of St. John Paul II, and May 13th was the 40th anniversary of the assassination of the Pope.  Thus, on Sunday, May 23, 2021, in a special manner, we entrusted our intentions and requests to St. John Paul II intercession.
At the beginning of the liturgy, the faithful in the Polish Catholic Mission in Hamburg had the opportunity to listen to an excerpt from the Holy Father’s speech in which he addressed academic youth in Warsaw on June 3, 1979.  We would like to note that on that day, the relics of St. John Paul II were displayed and attracted large groups of faithful.
At the exit from the church, the faithful were able to purchase books and films on Papal topics.  Available for a purchase was the latest film entitled “Wojtyła. Investigation” which presents stories that reveal the power of the holy Pope’s intercession.  For children, we were recommending a book entitled “St. John Paul II – history for the little ones”.  It was also possible to make a voluntary donation for the John Paul II Foundation in Rome by taking a book: “John Paul II in Polish-German memories”.
It was another “Papal Day” in the Hamburg Mission enriching us and allowing us to reflect on the legacy of St. John Paul II.
