He wanted to know what was going on

Now, late Piotr Mokrzycki (Archbishop Mieczysław Mokrzycki’s father), one day came with friends and acquaintances to Castel Gandolfo. He visited Italy and decided to visit me. Of course, they also wanted to see the Holy Father. John Paul II has always been kind to my dad. He knew that he was an organist in the church, even awarded him the Order of St. Sylvester for his service to the Church. And, when he learned that dad would show up at Castel Gandolfo, he invited him to Mass and breakfast. At the table, he asked what was going on in our family, what my dad was doing now; such a loose conversation. It was characteristic of John Paul II. The successor of St. Peter, who solves the problems of the Church and the world on a daily basis, is interested in the fate of a particular family. And, there was no courtesy, no artificiality in it. He really wanted to know what was going on with us. Dad was very impressed, affected and a little stressed. And, when he returned to his friends, the emotions subsided and he fainted. He quickly regained consciousness, but this is one example of how much some people were affected by the encounter with John Paul II.
