Retired Pope Benedict XVI on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of St. John Paul II prepared a special letter, which will be presented on Friday at the Palace of Archbishops of Krakow.
“In John Paul II, the power and goodness of God appeared to all of us. In an hour in which the Church again suffers from the onslaught of evil, he is a sign of hope and trust for us” – Wrote Pope Benedict XVI in a special letter to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of St. John Paul II, which falls on May 18, 2020.
Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was one of the closest associates of Pope John Paul II, and after his death he was elected as Holy Father. Benedict XVI prepared the historic letter at the request of Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, long-time personal secretary of John Paul II, witness of the life, holiness, and greatness of the Polish Pope.
The letter of the retired Pope on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of his holy predecessor will be presented on Friday, May 15 at 11.00a.m. at the Palace of Archbishops of Krakow at Franciszkanska Street 3. In the presentation of the document will participate the Archbishop of Kraków Marek Jędraszewski, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz – long-time personal secretary of St. John Paul II and Prof. Jarosław Kupczak OP – director of the Center of Research on the Thought of John Paul II at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Cracow.
