On Saturday, April 2, it was anniversary of the death of St. John Paul II, who left for the Father’s House 17 years ago, at 21.37, at the age of 84. On that day, at the Foundation House in Lublin, at 21.00, a thanksgiving Mass took place. We thanked God for the gift of life and holiness of the Founder of our Foundation and we prayed for his intercession, asking God for peace in Ukraine and around the world.
Holy Mass was said by Fr. Jan Strzałka, who in his sermon referred to the last hours of John Paul II’s life and said: “John Paul II passed away and the world normalized for some time and man have had a more human face. But new generation of young people was born, called as the generation of John Paul II, with aspirations for uniqueness and goodness. Everything was like in the most beautiful fairy tale: crowds in churches and in squares, night Masses, night vigils and spectacular reconciliations. But the reality of John Paul’s time passed relatively quickly. Weak human nature had come again. Today John Paul II is looking down from heave and asking his generation? Do you want to change the world for better? ”
After the Mass we prayed the rosary for the end of war in the Ukraine and we sang “Barca”, the most favorite song of the Holy Father.
