They are praying with St. John Paul II

The prayer campaign “Saint John Paul II with me forever” continues.  It has expanded to more places. Tonight, its participants will pray in several parishes of the archdiocese and in front of computer screens – services will be broadcast online.

In Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Kraków-Mistrzejowice the mass will be celebrated for the second time. – On January 18th, we prayed for families and unborn children.  This month we will pray at our Church and in all other places included in our action for the sick, the elderly and the needy.  The prayers will begin at 9 p.m.  We have invited all parishioners, there is also a live stream on the parish’s Facebook page – informed Fr. Bartosz Zaborowski, vicar, who prepared materials for the February “Vigil with St. John Paul II” as part of the #Święty4ever.  One of the quotations of John Paul II, who accompanies Fr. Bartosz, is the words: “Man cannot fully understand himself without Christ.”  According to the young priest, they contained a very strong and deep thought, timeless, that is, also present today. – The Lord Jesus is the hermeneut of every human being.  In Him is the key to the realization of the ancient maxim “Know yourself”.  He explains man to man- said Fr. Zaborowski.

For the second time, prayer will also take place in the church of Ten Thousand Martyrs from Mount Ararat in Niepołomice.  It will begin at 9 p.m. and will be streamed live on the parish’s Facebook page. – Our parish Oasis and teachers are responsible for the preparation and conduct of the prayers with St. John Paul II as part of #Święty4ever.  We read pre-prepared texts: a passage from the Scriptures, meditations and fragments of Papal texts, we also animate singing.  The prayer vigil in our parish takes place in the chapel of St. Charles Boromeus, a place that is naturally also associated with Karol Wojtyła, a chapel dedicated to his baptism’s patron.  We know that he often made pilgrimages to this place as a priest, bishop, and cardinal of Krakow – said Julia Kochańska, parish animator of the Light-Life Movement. – John Paul II reminds me of WYD and the fact that he was close to young people – despite the large age difference, he understood them perfectly: their way of thinking, their problems, their enthusiasm.  He did not offend the young, he always believed in them, listened to them, took them seriously and patiently showed where to look for the meaning of life.  He said that you have to demand of yourself.  Due to the pandemic, we are not meeting often as part of the Oasis.  The January service has already allowed us to rediscover the richness of being together.  It can be said that, as at WYD, John Paul II united young people from all over the world, he also united us in Niepołomice in our joint prayer. We needed this experience very much– added the animator.

The masses, broadcast live on the Internet on Facebook or On You Tube, will also take place at the Sanctuary of St. John Paul II in Krakow (9.15 pm, FB, YT), The Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Krakow-Łagiewniki (5.30 pm, FB, YT), the Basilica of The Offering of The Virgin Mary in Wadowice (6.40 pm, YT), the Pasion-Marian Sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska (9 p.m., FB), the Marian Sanctuary in Ludźmierz  (5:30 p.m., FB), the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Zakopane-Krzeptówki (8 p.m. broadcast on the sanctuary’s website), St. Florian’s Basilica in Krakow (7 p.m., YT), St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe’s Church in Kraków-Mistrzejowice (8:30 p.m., YT), Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Krakow- Piaski Wielkie (6:30 p.m. , YT) and the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Sucha Beskidy (9 p.m., YT).

– “Saint John Paul II with me forever – Saint4ever” is a pastoral initiative bringing together people who want to express their closeness to the Holy Pope of Poland and to study his teaching.  The action will last until May 18th, which is the 101st anniversary of Karol Wojtyła’s birth.  As part of this, we encourage you, in addition to attending the 18 services each month, to pray one part of the Rosary prayer and to read one verse from the Litany to St. John Paul II each day at 9.37 pm.    Also, we encourage to read Papal texts (on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays). Relevant excerpts are available on @swiety4ever’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.  Additionally, to see and to offer help to the needy who lives next to us, displaying images of St. John Paul II in the windows of your homes and apartments, as well as displaying the Papal flag on: April 2, April 27 and from May 13 to May 18, 2021 – informed Fr. Tomasz Jarosz, originator and organizer of the action.
