On Sunday, May 12, at the monastery of the Sacred Heart Fathers in Pliszczyn, another Foundation Day took place, commemorating the birthday of its Founder and Patron, Saint John Paul II. Already for twenty nine years, the John Paul II Foundation provides material and spiritual support to students from Central and Eastern Europe.
Every year current and some alumni scholarship recipients meet in Pliszczyn to spend time together on this festive day, giving thanks to God for the gift of the Holy Father and for all donors, thanks to whom so many young people can gain knowledge and deepen their faith.
Traditionally, the celebration began in the Sacred Heart of Jesus church with a solemn Mass in honor of Saint John Paul II. Fr. Adam Pastorczyk, Sacred Heart priest celebrated the Eucharist along with Fr. Robert Ptak and priests who are also scholarship recipients. The scholarship recipients’ choir and the vocal-musical band enriched the liturgy. After the Mass, delicious snacks were served in the monastery gardens.
