45th March for Life in Washington D.C.
“To all the members of the Church, the people of life and for life, I make this most urgent appeal, that together we may offer this world of ours new signs of hope, and work to ensure that justice and solidarity will increase and that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, for the building of an authentic civilization of truth and love.”
- John Paul II Evangelium Vitae
Once again, on January 19, 2018 many people of faith and good will participated in “March for Life” in Washington, DC. The March was organized already for the 45th time in response to the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States allowing legal abortion in the entire country.
Following very clear teachings of our Patron, many members of the John Paul II Foundation have also decided to join the event and participate in the March. As the March for Life is always held on a working day to ensure that all important people in our capital, who normally work on that day, could hear our protest, participants need to take a vacation day from their work schedule. Thus, we took a day off and participated in the March which gave us a really nice feeling of being united with so many other American religious organizations, parishes, and people of good will marching to save all human lives.
We were thrilled to learn that our prayers are being listened and we are making a difference. We have learned that the great majority of the abortion clinics have already been permanently closed. In 2017 alone, 21 surgical abortions centers were closed. Since 1991, three quarters of the nation’s abortion mills have been closed. However, still 515 abortion centers are open and many people need to learn the truth about abortion, so we need to continue to pray and show our support for all unborn children.
We hope that in not too distant future we are going to see the day when people will value all lives and all abortion centers will be closed forever and lives of unborn children will be protected. We shouldn’t rest and every day we should continue to pray to Almighty God and our Patron, John Paul II for His intercession in this matter. We will also continue to participate in the March and display our commitment to life until that day comes.
