Last year, we were celebrating the 40th anniversary of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła election as the Pope John Paul II. To commemorate this anniversary, the John Paul II Foundation Washington Chapter prepared handmade Polish ornaments. They were an example of a craft that comes from our Pope’s Polish traditions.
During our banquet which commemorated the 40th anniversary of the election, each guest received handmade red or white scarf. The scarf presented to each guest reminded the warmth that radiated from Pope John Paul II.
The John Paul II Foundation Washington Chapter also prepared star ornaments. The star ornaments were made by Cecilia Glembocki and Marianna Eckel. They made 100 of these as a reminder of Pope John Paul’s II Polish heritage.
These handmade ornaments decorated the Polish Christmas tree at the Saint John Paul II Shrine, National Shrine. On the photograph, please notice the image of John Paul II located on the top of the ornament which commemorate the 40th year of His papacy.
