On March 23, 2017 took place the anniversary celebrations of the Munich Chapter of John Paul II Foundation. The celebrations started with a Mass which was celebrated by the Pastor, Stanisław Pławecki CSsR along with Fr. Wiktor Bochan CSsR at Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel at the Polish Catholic Mission in Munich. During the homily, Fr. Pławecki recalled the origins of the Munich Chapter. He said that in fall of 2005 the Polish School took the name of John Paul II. This fact inspired some worshippers of John Paul II to intensify and spread the memory and knowledge of the Great Pole and His teachings. In spring 2007, a Chapter of the John Paul II Foundation was established. It consisted of few members led by Mr. Paweł Kuśmierz, while Fr. Pławecki was the spiritual leader of the group. In years 2011 to fall of 2016, Mr. Adam Kowalik was the president of the Chapter. Then, the leadership role was given to Ms. Marta Czempik who leads the group to the current date. The Chapter was growing and it was taking new initiatives. From the very beginning, members of the Chapter were trying to accomplish specific spiritual, prayer related, informational and financial goals within the main goals of the Foundation. During the regular Chapter meetings they were praying, listening to the lectures of Fr. Pławecki about the life and teachings of John Paul II, discussing, and organizing various activities - all of them are worth of mentioning and it will be quite a long list.
Regular book selling events were deepening the religious knowledge and disseminating the knowledge about life and teachings of John Paul II. Similar goals had music and verbal programs presented to the parishioners as well as the Pontifex exhibition and Mobile Museum of John Paul II. Thanks to the invitations of our Chapter, we had many distinguished guests, among whom we can list: Mrs. Floribeth Mora Diaz, miraculously cured through the intercession of John Paul II; Brother Martial Cadou, the author of the book “Invisible Monastery of John Paul II”; Rev. Jan Strzałka, director of the Foundation Home in Lublin along with two fellowship recipients; Rev. Sławomir Oder, Postulation of the canonization process of John Paul II; and Fr. Krzysztof Wieliczko OSPPE, Administrator of the John Paul II Foundation. Members of the Chapter participated in the 30th and 35th anniversary celebrations of the Foundation which were held in Rome. At the end of the Eucharist, there was a chance to pay homage by kissing the relic of John Paul II from our Chapel. After the Mass, we took some memorable photographs. The agape was the second part of the celebrations. We had a time to recall various events, go through the considerable chronicle of the Chapter, listening to the poems related to John Paul II and watching multimedia presentation about the Saint. Enriched and united by the awe to Saint John Paul II we would like to eagerly continue His deed by supporting His Foundation.
