On January 27th, once again the John Paul II Foundation New Jersey Chapter joined the March for Life in Washington, DC. This year, it was the 44th March for Life, as so many years passed since the sad decision of the United States Supreme Court legalizing abortion, which in fact is a permission to kill unborn children.
The Founder of our Foundation, Saint John Paul II, was always a great protector of unborn lives, thus members of our New Jersey Chapter of the John Paul II Foundation with their presence demonstrated support for the civilization of life, not death. This year, due to inauguration of President Donald Trump, the March for Life was held one week later than usually. The weather was nice, although it was windy and the wind was affecting our pro-life banners. For the very first time in the history, highest ranking official, Mike Pence, the Vice President of the United States participated in the March for Life. He also made a speech to address thousands of attendees of the March. Additionally, the March was covered in the media in the bigger extend as in prior years, when it was omitted and ignored by liberal media due to uncomfortable subject.
During the March for Life, many people seeing our banner with the image of St. John Paul II was approaching us to express their support for the teaching of the Great Polish Pope, to share with us a story from their lives related to John Paul II, as well as, to encourage us and give thanks for our testimony of faith. Presence of so many attendees, Vice President of the U.S., many politicians, leaders of the Catholic Church, strengthened our hope that a time when the United States Supreme Court will overturn the sad Roe v. Wade decision from January 22, 1973 is close and a time of victory of life is near.
