On October 22nd, there was the 35th anniversary of the inauguration of the pontificate which is also the day on which the Church celebrates liturgical remembrance of John Paul II.
Additional date, especially important for all who are serving at the Foundation, is October 16th, when Pope John Paul II established our Foundation which bears His name.
The John Paul II Foundation New Jersey Chapter fulfilling the need to honor such important events in cooperation with members of the Holy Rosary Parish organized a tribute vigil for John Paul II.
The prayer vigil took place on October 19th, 2013 at the Holy Rosary Church, which last year was elevated to the rank of the Blessed John Paul II Sanctuary.
The event began at 8 p.m. and ended at 11 p.m. with a Holy Mass. One of the last words of the Pope, which He officially said “I have looked for you and now you have come to me” were the leading motto of the event. Indeed, despite of late hours and many tasks, people in great number and with huge enthusiasm responded to our invitation to a prayer with the Pope.
We had traditional prayers such as Rosary and Novena, but also we had other vigil elements as recitation of the John Paul II poems and testimonies from meetings with the Pope. Additionally, we had archival recordings of homilies delivered by the Pope and all of us could hear again His teachings. At the end of the vigil, at the lower hall of the church, everyone could taste “Papal” cream puffs which were served by members of our Chapter.
